"La Chaparra" and "La Chicharra" are set on the south
slope of the Sierra Nevada at about 1,200 m height. They are about 6 km above
Lanjarón and therefore have incredible views looking over the valley of the
Guadalfeo up to the Mediterranean, or the mountains of the Contraviesa and in
clear weather to Africa.
|
|
 |
Also, they are a good starting point for trips to Granada with the Alhambra,
the skiing area of the Sierra Nevada, the unique valleys of the Alpujarra and
the typical white villages and bays of the Costa Tropical.
Possible Excursions
|
Like everywhere into the Alpujarras, the landscape is shaped by the terraces,
which were originated by the Moors up high into the mountains side. The area is
also well known for the gushing water acequias developed in the Islamic time of
Al-Andalus.

|
|
The area covering approximately 20,000 square metres is covered with lots of
trees including chestnut, almond, olive and various fruit trees which all help
keep the area lush and green. With the
help of the fresh spring water coming down from the snow-covered summits of the
Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean close by, there is a unique selection of Fauna and Flora.
